Leave it to Pat Metheny, guitar genius and looong standing friend of the Festival-he's played here 15 times, including the unforgettable downtown outdoor closing spectacular in 2005!-to take the idea of the player-piano and create a veritable orchestra of instruments controlled by the strings of his guitar. The project is all the more impressive when one realizes how closely these percussion instruments, pianos, keyboards and vibraphones follow his every musical and improvisational whim.
