SUMMARY:Première Mondiale Charle Haden et Hank Jones - Festival International de Jazz de Montréal
DESCRIPTION:PREMIÈRE MONDIALE CHARLE HADEN ET HANK JONES\n\nThis bass player brought us eight days of paradise was the comment in La Presse after a series of eight shows presented in 1989. The search for the ultimate jazz quartet might well be over, wrote Irwin Block last year in The Gazette, just after Charlie Haden’s band won over the hearts of Festival-goers. Haden, who’s also been in Montreal with his Liberation Music Orchestra, is an outstanding accompanist. Hank Jones, for his part, is the jazz pianist who’s probably cut the most records in the last four decades. Charlie Parker, Coleman Hawkins, Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald: they’ve all called upon his supple, inspired technique. Entitled Hymns, Spirituals and Anthems, this world premiere performance will be recorded to mark the 5th anniversary of the Verve record label. \n\nhttp://www.montrealjazzfest.com/program/concert.aspx?id=8571\n
