SUMMARY:Paul Bley / John Scofield - Festival International de Jazz de Montréal
DESCRIPTION:PAUL BLEY / JOHN SCOFIELD\n\nIn the mid-1980s, John Scofield left the Miles Davis orchestra to go out on his own. Paul Bley was one of the first musicians that attracted the guitar player. The meeting of these two very different musicians was in fact the perfect opportunity for both of them to learn from the other and to develop their respective styles. Scofield is a remarkable leader, and yet his insatiable curiosity and uncommon technique have made him one of the most sought after accompanists — one only has to think of his stints with McCoy Tyner and Gerry Mulligan. Paul Bley has a no less impressive record, having played with the likes of Charlie Mingus and Charlie Parker. When one is aware of the extent to which Bley and Scofield don’t hesitate to indulge in a bit of risky playing, it’s just one more reason to go and hear them in action. \n\nhttp://www.montrealjazzfest.com/program/concert.aspx?id=8120\n
