DESCRIPTION:SPÉCIAL LATIN - JAZZ AVEC PONCHO SANCHEZ ET SON GRAND ENSEMBLE \n\nThe first appearance in jazz history of a percussion instrument other than the drums, the conga is directly linked to the rise in popularity of cubop at the end of the 1940s. As such, it will be interesting to hear one of America’s most renowned virtuosos of the conga, Poncho Sanchez. Former protégé of the legendory Cal Tjader until the latter’s death in 1982, Sanchez began to make a name for himself that soon evoked a patent mixture of brass and percussion spiced up with some Latin rhythms and jazz harmonies. Fired up by his seductive smile and magic hands, audiences can’t resist the complicity that unites him with the other musicians on stage.
