With a high sense of theatrics, fearless technique, and an aggressive style that blends elements of gospel, boogie-woogie and the classics, Donegan literally takes her listeners by storm. Festival-goers will be reassured to hear that the Grande Dame of the piano, who also has a reputation for eating musicians up with her whirlwind tempos, will be accompanied by the incomparable alto saxophonist and clarinetist Phil Woods, a free jazz veteran and consistent perpetuator of the classical jazz tradition who’s a powerhouse in his own right.
