SUMMARY:La nuit africaine II - Ray Lema et Manu Dibango - Festival International de Jazz de Montréal
DESCRIPTION:LA NUIT AFRICAINE II - RAY LEMA ET MANU DIBANGO\n\nIf Manu Dibango hadn’t built bridges between Africa and Europe in the early sixties, the explosion of African music worldwide surely wouln’t have reached today’s levels. With his dazzling saxophone, he created Soul Makossa, a blend of soul and African rhythms. Ray Lema, an outstanding percussionist who also composes and sings, has also contributed to the fusion of European and African traditions, notably with Stewart Copeland’s (of Police fame) The Rhythmatist project. Magic tempos, hallucinating rhythms, a throbbing saxophone, happy hymns, and the joy of music: a warm African night well worth waiting for! \n\nhttp://www.montrealjazzfest.com/program/concert.aspx?id=7500\n
