SUMMARY:Kenny Garrett Sketches of MD - Festival International de Jazz de Montréal
DESCRIPTION:KENNY GARRETT SKETCHES OF MD\n\nAt 18, he played in the Duke Ellington Orchestra; later, he stood alongside McCoy Tyner, Ron Carter, Marcus Miller and of course Miles Davis, with whom he would become identified due to an intense similarity of spirit and gesture (he played with his back to the audience, like his mentor). And let’s face it-there are worse musical models! Though he loves jazz, this alto saxophonist is open to its descendants and its musical neighbours, jumping into be bop, funk and pop, passionately claiming the title free spirit, an artist in constant evolution. Expect a sublime evening, with music from Sketches of Miles Davis, recorded live in the Iridium in New York, as the pièce de résistance.\n\nhttp://www.montrealjazzfest.com/program/concert.aspx?id=6409\n
