SUMMARY:Cleo Laine et John Dankworth avec Duke Ellington Orchestra / Joe Williams avec Count Basie Orchestra - Festival International de Jazz de Montréal
DESCRIPTION:CLEO LAINE ET JOHN DANKWORTH AVEC DUKE ELLINGTON ORCHESTRA / JOE WILLIAMS AVEC COUNT BASIE ORCHESTRA\n\nThe golden age of swing will live on with this wonderful evening when the two greatest big bands ever share a program featuring British singer Cleo Laine and the famous Joe Williams, What a superb voice, that Cleo Laine wrote Le Devoir after her concert at the 1989 Festival. This artist who sings with the Duke Ellington Orchestra has a four-octave range that she uses with a sensitivity that makes her one of the very best jazz interpreters going. A regular collaborator of the Count Basie Orchestra since the early fifties, Joe Williams honors his blues and gospel roots with a vocal style that is ot once forceful and stirring. Directed by Mercer Ellington and Frank Foster respectively, the Duke Ellington and Count Basie orchestras preserve the tradition of their founders with an enthusiasm that never falters. \n\nhttp://www.montrealjazzfest.com/program/concert.aspx?id=8959\n
