Afro-Cubism

The phenomenal talent detectives who turned up the Buena Vista Social Club (Nick Gold and Ry Cooder) are back at it! This time, they bring us 13 gifted players from two countries at their musical zenith, Cuba and Mali-including singer-guitarist Eliades Ochoa, perhaps the sole star of the prestigious club to never have played our Festival, Toumani Diabaté on the kora, Bassekou Kouyaté on the ngoni, and Baba Sissoko on the tamani (talking drum)-here to deliver a performance as eclectic as it is harmonically gorgeous. It's nothing less than a new experience in world music, a rare treat for fanatics devoted to musical world-travel!
