Tigran Hamasyan Solo

Barely 23, this jazz prodigy has already racked up his share of awards. His compositions reveal an original and unfettered musical mind; Hamasyan even integrates elements of hard rock and Armenian folklore. Usually accompanied by his sextet, the exceptional pianist graces us here with a solo performance spotlighting his raw talent. And he's just getting started!

Piano solo series – Chapelle du Bon Pasteur: Offer yourself the pleasure of attending a concert in this exceptional venue, with three brilliant pianists: European rising star Tigran Hamasyan and his surprising melodic range; the very creative Marco Benevento, for his indie rock influences; and Vijay Iyer, critically acclaimed by the jazz press worldwide and inspired by his Indian roots and traditional Afro-American music.

I had the pleasure of seeing this fiery young pianist live in Paris last December and was blown away! I am very proud that his first show in Montréal will be presented exclusively by the Jazz Festival. Hamasyan is part of an exciting new wave of pianists who are putting piano at the forefront of jazz and making it more accessible.
