Inspired by the energy of Bach, Oscar Peterson, Dream Theater and… Michael Jordan, the music of Japanese pianist Hiromi is literally unclassifiable! Her latest album, Duet, found her paired with Chick Corea; its predecessor Beyond Standards is an anthology of staggering reinventions of classic pieces (including Debussy’s Clair de lune and Duke Ellington’s Caravan), dynamized and reinvigorated, and described as a dose of adrenalin for jaded music fans. In quartet, Hiromi will perform with her group, Sonicbloom.
