Bill Charlap & Houston Person You Taught My Heart To Sing

You Taught My Heart To Sing is the ideal soundtrack for a rainy afternoon, a comforting collection of sentimental ballads culled from the American pop repertoire and interpreted by some true pros in the genre. Bill Charlap, on piano, has played with Tony Bennett and finds his inspiration in jazz recorded from the ’40s to the ’60s. Houston Person, on saxophone, was the longtime musical partner of Etta Jones and has over 75 albums to his credit! His distinctive style is coloured by soul jazz and hard bop. An exceptional duo!

André Ménard (Festival International de Jazz de Montréal)
My favourite jazz show at the Festival this year: The quiet power of two masters who have nothing to prove, but everything to give. Charlap’s subtle stylings on piano and enticing sax renditions courtesy of Mr. Houston Person, who Wynton Marsalis deemed as “the last of the boudoir tenors.” Simply delicious.
