with Joe Locke, Ben Riley, Ray Drummond, Bruce Cox, Eddie Henderson, Kiyoshi Obata and Don Braden
Kenny Barron is justifiably regarded as the most brilliant piano accompanist in the world, but this time it's the pianist who's calling the shots. The chameleon of the keyboard will give us a sampling of his abilities at adaptation and improvisation, first as soloist, then with a duo, a trio and finally a quintet. A devoted servant of Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, Ron Carter, James Moody et al., his range is impressive, solidly rooted in bebop and swing. For this occasion, he'll be accompanied by Joe Locke (vibraphone), Don Braden (sax), Eddie Henderson (trumpet), Ben Riley and Bruce Cox (drums), Kiyoshi Obata (bass) and Ray Drummond (double bass), all excellent musicians.
