Le Cabaret du Festival avec Little Jimmy Scott et Blossom Dearie

Reserve your cabaret seat now! And get ready for a heady double bill presented by legends in a setting that's going to take you places. First, there's Little Jimmy Scott. As Ray Charles put it, "Jimmy must have invented the word soul". Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 17, 1925, Jimmy suffered a long series of hardships - dealing with fraud on the part of his record company, among them - that prevented his talent from reaching the public. Indeed, it seemed he was bad luck personified. Until ... until people like Quincy Jones, Ray Charles and actor Joe Pesci recognized his talent and took the necessary steps to have the world discover this impassioned voice. The album that finally revealed Scott to the jazz public features artists worthy of his genius: Kenny Baron, Ron Carter, David "Fathead" Newman. The same album earned a well-deserved five stars from Down Beat.

As for Blossom Dearie, she is one of those rare flowers that have adorned the cabarets of Paris, London and New York since the 50s; a fresh, delicate voice, the ageless blossom has kept her charm and is still appreciated for her attention to detail. A great lady of song, the founder of the Swingle Singers, she has recorded standards on the Verve label and has sung the mythical "Once a Summertime"
