L'Événement Alcan

Katie Webster-Wayne Toups & Zydecajun- Champion Jack Dupree-Buckwheat Zydeco
Just imagine for a moment that you've been transported from the boulevard René-Lévesque to the Vieux-Carré, to a street basking in the glow of the early evening light, that warm New Orleans light that caresses everything it touches. There, the Cajun ensemble of the hour, Wayne Toups & Zydecajun, zre giving it everything they've got; it's not for nothing their accordionist leader is called the Boss everywhere in the bayou. Next up on stage to turn up the temperature even more is pianist and singer Katie Webster, the queen of Louisiana boogie woogie. And finally, to top things off with a bit of dancing, there's Stanley Durai, alias Buckwheat Zydeco, a master of the genre who continues to popularize this entrancing music in the great tradition of accordion ployer Clifton Chenier. The Événement Alcan thus presents a "New Orleans evening" the likes of which Montreal has never experienced: a hot summer night of vibrant voices and steamy dancing that'll show how our Louisiana cousins really "let the good times roll."
