Andy Summers

featuring Darryl Jones, Bill Evans, Mitch Forman, Chad Wackerman
The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal provides the perfect opportunity for unusual encounters. How about that between Andy Summers, the ex-guitar player of The Police, and Bill Evans, Darryl Jones, Chad Wackerman and Mitch Forman? Surely one of the most exciting ever! Andy Summers' skill with the guitar is now legendary; it's most likely the group will become just as famous. What else can be expected when Chad Wackerman gels on stage? Those who heard the sax player Bill Evans, the sound behind Miles Davis for more thon five years, know what is being talked about here. These guys know how to groove. Whether it be with Sting or Miles Davis, the bass player Darryl Jones has never offered anything but excitement. And as far as inspiration goes, you can't top keyboard player Mitchell Forman: during the 1980s, he completely reworked the techniques of Stan Getz and Gerry Mulligan, adding new effects to his own vibrant repertoire of sounds. In short, all these guys together make for the year's most spectacular event.
