Nat Adderley was born to a family in which music-making comes as naturally as breathing: he is the brother of Cannonball and his son, Nat Jr., is a pianist. Nat Adderley is one of a rare breed of cornet players. His style is straightforward but can also be pleasantly lyric when he feels so inclined. Even as he worked with Cannonball, until the latter's death in 1975, he also formed his own groups. Presently, he performs with Larry Willis, Walter Booker, Jimmy Cobb, and Vincent Herring, musicians who, for the most part, worked with Cannonball, and who also played on Nat's 1982 album, "On the Move".
