Kirk Lightsey et Harold Danko aux pianos

Slowly but surely... As the saying goes, Kirk Lightsey and Harold Danko have invested many years of efforts for which they are now savouring the results. Both have played with eminent jazzmen, including Chet Baker at different periods. Lightsey recorded five albums with him around 1965, and collaborated with him once again 15 years tater. As for Danko, he took part in two European tours with Baker in the seventies, and was one of the last to tour and record with him before his untimely death, in 1987. In 1982, Kirk Lightsey and Harold Danko recorded "Shorter by Two", an album that was to play a decisive rote in their future collaborations. This year, these pianists, the one ethereal or accented, the other sober and reflective, are reunited at the Festival in surprising lyricism.
