The extremely talented pianist Monty Alexander, who gave up a career in classical music to pursue his love for jazz, was born in Jamaica. The sounds of rythm & blues and calypso which be grew up with still echo in his music. ln his renditions of the best known jazz standards, as in his arrangements of works from the classical repertory, Alexander provides his own personal touch, never ignoring the original intentions of the composer.
