Based on their extensive academic knowledge and professional experience, five Québec musicians formed "Orange" in order to express their considerable talent in a musical environment taking its inspiration from Jeff Lorber, Spyro Gyra, David Sanborn... rock-jazz bordering on the funky. For their participation in the Jazz Contest, Orange put on a show reminiscent of certain West Coast groups.
Jean Derome on flute and Claude Simard on double bass have frequently demonstrated that the word improvisation is not meaningless. Both are members of E.M.I.M. and gave recorded two albums with Nébu. For the Jazz Competition, Jean Derome and Claude Simard will perform with pianist Jean Corriveau .guitarist René Lussier and drummer Pierre Demers. Their repertoire is full of humour and if you have found memories of the show "La théorie des deux solitudes" or of Mysterioso, reserve your seats for Tuesday, July 5 - you will witness a transfiguration: jazz becoming a spectacle.
