Twenty years after the dazzling global success of Yéké Yéké, Mory Kanté, brilliant Guinean griot and master of the kora, returns to thrill the Festival faithful! After an absence of far too many years, this musical pioneer of African music arrives in Montreal with 15 musicians, a hit of summer sunshine from the musical mother-source, and an electric-and electrifying!-reminder of the unifying power of his truly planetary world music!
After enjoying smash success every night of the Festival during their 5 à 7 shows in the splendid Pavillon Heineken, The Lost Fingers step up to the General Motors stage as the opening act of the Rio Tinto Alcan Closing Party. This crazed trio left such an impression with their unhinged repertoire of gypsy jazz and ’80s kitsch hits that close to a thousand fans lined up last Saturday night to catch one of their free concerts!
