St. Louis native Jeremy Davenport, student of Ellis Marsalis and companion of Harry Connick, Jr., just earned himself the title of best new jazz artist from the Louisiane music industry and OffBEAT magazine. Davenport's trumpet produces a sweet, velvet sound reminiscent of Chet Baker's, and he's got a voice rich with choral that recalls Mel Tormé or Tony Bennett. His rendition of "They Can't Take That Away from Me" will touch a lot of hearts.
