Here they come, a fiery young sextet… Born in the streets of Zimbabwe, Mokoomba took home first prize at the Music Crossroads InterRegional Festival in 2008 and have conquered Europe with their wildly dance-mad shows fusing ethno-jazz, traditional Tonga rhythms, Sahara blues, hip hop and salsa. Their second 2nd album, Rising Tide, promises nothing less than a dancefloor tsunami!

Attention: this one will get crazy. I can personally attest that for two nights running, this Zimbabwe group had everyone dancing like mad, and had a profound effect on me. For a number of years, diplomatic tensions made it difficult to present groups from this African country in concert. But it was worth the wait! Given their resolutely urban and danceable repertoire, this Harare group could just as easily come from Brooklyn, London or Paris. Get ready for a hard-hitting groovefest!
