Eric Couture-Telmosse , Kite Trio

Kite Trio

After a debut album took them touring all over Montreal, Quebec, Toronto and even the eastern U.S., Kite Trio arrive with Strange Beast, released in October 2013. Consisting of a drummer, guitarist and double bassist, the trio pushes the boundaries of jazz, offering a blended style with progressive colourings. Their obvious talent is on display in their originals, as well as a magnificent version of Neil Young’s classic Harvest Moon. Nominated for the TD Grand Jazz Award.

Laurent Saulnier
Laurent Saulnier (Festival International de Jazz de Montréal)
With a guitarist, a drummer and a double bassist, the trio known as Kite launched their album Strange Beast, produced by Jocelyn Tellier, on the MMiM label owned by Ian Kelly. Their jazz is profoundly influenced by progressive rock, but also by such modern jazz trios as The Bad Plus. Energy, virtuosity, brilliant writing and performance; really, they’ve got everything to thrill the most demanding jazz fan. And they’re from Montréal!
