François & The Atlas Mountains

A multi-talented artist with a taste for the road, François Marry left his native France for the UK at 19; since then, he and his Atlas Mountains have traveled all over Europe for the past 7 years. Musically, they dig into the works of Yann Tiersen and the cosmopolitan folk of Beirut, all the while mining a seam of Afro-pop that would have turned on Serge Gainsbourg. The first French artist to sign with estimable UK label Domino (The Kills, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand…), he brings us E Volo Love, the palindromic title of this compelling album.

My colleague Laurent Saulnier “introduced” me to François Marry and his album "E Volo Love" sometime this winter, and I was immediately won over. A lovely blend of French "chanson" and English pop, poetic, ethereal, feel-good… it’s the perfect music for a hot summer night.
