An Acoustic Evening with Stanley Clarke and Hiromi

An extraordinary bassist, inspired composer and prolific collaborator, Stanley Clarke has racked up a stunning array of projects over the past four decades. For this first concert in the Invitation series, he invites us to a duet with sparking Japanese pianist Hiromi, whom we've enjoyed and applauded three times at the Festival since 2005.

André Ménard
André Ménard (Festival International de Jazz de Montréal)
He is the inventor of the electric bass in modern jazz and all the other greats, like Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten, bow down before him. With a guest roster including those two (Saturday 30th), Hiromi (Tuesday 28th), the Harlem String Quartet (Friday 29th) or his own band (Sunday 1st), I wouldn’t dare miss a single show in this series.

Of all the concerts in the Invitation series offered by the great Stanley Clarke–the man who made bass solos de "rigueur" and pioneered the slap bass technique–I especially recommend his duet with pianist Hiromi. I saw them at the Blue Note in New York. Brilliant!
