Pianist, guitarist and harmonica player - John Mayall is British blues-rock incarnate! Just consider the staggering roster of guitarists who passed through the blues "finishing school" of his Bluesbreakers (Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor...) during the glory years of the British Blues Boom. The legend - who will celebrate his 78th birthday 3 days after the concert - is nicknamed "the godfather of British blues", but has been known to flirt with a little jazz along the way. He heads here with Tough, the most recent of his 60-odd albums, and a fitting title if ever there were one! Opening the show, Shane Murphy, who rocked the Festival this past summer, returns with his virtuoso, muscular soul-blues-folk.
