Baloji

When it comes to Baloji, you’d do well to look and listen beyond appearances! The slight resemblance to a young Marvin Gaye swiftly gives way to his actual nickname: the “sorcerer of words.” Former member of the group Starflam, the Congolese Belgian set out on a quest for musical identity in Africa that ended up defining him and bringing him to renown as an artist with Hotel Impala and now, Kinshasa Succursale. An incomparable and unique blend of instruments, styles and cultures!

With the support of Wallonie-Bruxelles International.

Marc-André Sarault
Marc-André Sarault (Festival International de Jazz de Montréal)
Baloji is suave and sexy, a real showman. He delivers his texts – imbued with an African essence – with finesse. Whether he’s protesting or proclaiming, his message is universal, drawing people together. We’re thrilled to have him on stage here for two nights. Not to be missed!
