k.d. lang & The Siss Boom Bang

Opening act: The Belle Brigade
k.d. lang made a lot of noise in April with the release of her latest album: Sing It Loud. A return to her roots, new material, a new group; the now-legendary Alberta singer with the androgynous look is (finally!) on her way to Montreal this summer with her band, the Siss Boom Bang. Flanked by these tuned-in turned-on young instrumentalists and lassoing a repertoire of new country-rock songs including a Talking Heads cover (Heaven), she brings us a concert equal to her reputation as the greatest singer of her generation: explosive!

Johanne Bougie
Johanne Bougie (Festival International de Jazz de Montréal)
For madame lang, a return to her roots, a new album, and a new group! Contemporary country, pop-folk, our favourite female crooner shows up with a collection of songs, each one more exquisite than the next, and her ever-spectacular voice.

Very interested to see what k.d. lang is up to these days. I really like the band format of the new album but also hoping k.d. can be coaxed into some classics for the festival show.
