On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the Festival has created the
Bruce
Lundvall Award, which will be presented annually to a prominent non-musician
who has left a mark on the world of jazz or contributed to its development, whether
through the media, concert or record industry. The first person to be awarded the
prize is none other than Bruce Lundvall, president of EMI’s legendary
Blue Note label. An astute and dedicated
administrator with a pair of ears connected directly to his heart, Mr. Lundvall
has gained universal respect from his peers and the innumerable musicians and journalists
who he has encountered.
