The utterly global favourite of 2013, Woodkid now ranks among those artists we can count on to push the live experience to its furthest limits, as much for his completely new and unique instrumentation, as for his use of visuals, with projections that transform every Woodkid concert into a genuine event that plays equally well in front of an audience of 2000 or 50,000. On June 26, the Place des Festivals belongs to Woodkid, who launches this 35th edition and raises the bar to dizzying artistic and experiential heights for all who will follow…

With a guitarist, a drummer and a double bassist, the trio known as Kite launched their album Strange Beast, produced by Jocelyn Tellier, on the MMiM label owned by Ian Kelly. Their jazz is profoundly influenced by progressive rock, but also by such modern jazz trios as The Bad Plus. Energy, virtuosity, brilliant writing and performance; really, they’ve got everything to thrill the most demanding jazz fan. And they’re from Montréal!

The Montréal group returns to the Festival, headlining the TD Stage for the very first time! After launching the excellent Kill the Hook album last autumn, the local outfit will hold to their own tradition, presenting a new show in what promises to be a magical evening. Count on them to cook up a completely unique performance, because a band doesn’t play the Festival’s TD Stage every day—although when it comes to Random Recipe, every night is a party!

Straight out of Stockholm, Sweden, the Dirty Loops trio has been setting the Internet on fire for several years now. Their acrobatic cover of Rolling in the Deep, the now-classic hit by Adele, has been viewed almost 4 million times! With a strong premier album, the Loops roll in for their Montreal debut (and for two nights, not one), where they’ll meet and meld with their many Montréal fans for the first time—but certainly not the last. One day, you’ll say, “Oh yeah, I definitely caught them outdoors in 2014…”

After making her Festival debut long ago in 2001, Nicole Willis returns this time with a new group whose name says it all: The Soul Investigators! Their music draws deeply on the roots of soul, without ever locking into nostalgia. On the contrary: a deep groove, great vocals, a hip-swaying sound and ultimately, an evening of soulful delight!
