Riding high since 2011, Montreal combo Waiting Game bring us solid pop-folk surrounding the warm, powerful voice of singer Venyse Rowe. The band draws its influences as much from the ’50s and ’60s as from grunge, making it all their own with an energetic rock attack. After playing the last M pour Montréal, they land for a first Festival visit with a self-titled EP released in 2013.

Make no mistake: this 35th edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, presented by TD in collaboration with Rio Tinto Alcan, is going to be Big—really B-I-G! We can already feel it at the box office, which is experiencing the largest pre-sale in Festival history—so hurry up if you want tickets for your favourite upcoming concerts! And among the special gifts the Festival will unwrap this summer, this one is undoubtedly the most magnificent: the very first ever major free outdoor show at this Festival by the great lady of jazz, Diana Krall! Celebrating the 20th anniversary of her love affair with the Festival, the incredible pianist and singer who has conquered the planet will now offer a magical musical evening usually reserved for the world’s most prestigious indoor venues: the final performance of her Glad Rag Doll tour—coming full circle, since that album concept was inspired by three concerts she performed right here with us in 2011!

Dwane Dixon, founder and songwriter of Texarillo, sets the rock aside to return to his first love, the blues. Rolling between roots rock and Texas blues, Texarillo sets audiences aflame from the very first notes. Black Satin Blues, a debut album released in 2013, revealed the full range of the group’s talents and energy, followed in short order by an avalanche of concerts showcasing their unique roadhouse blues style. It’s the perfect sound to bring down the house!

This Swedish power trio made their name with unhinged covers of pop songs—by Justin Bieber, Britney Spears and Adele—before launching their own songs on the Internet and the stages of Europe. Driven by an absolutely wild singer-keyboardist, drummer and bassist, the sound is an explosive and instantly addictive cocktail, captured in a new album, Loopified, destined to be spun non-stop.

Montreal-born and now a Texan, young guitarist Sonny Wolf was bitten by the blues bug at 14, at a Stevie Ray Vaughan concert. Since then, he’s followed his muse through the blues and rockabilly, rocking concerts and festivals, set Bistro à Jojo ablaze last summer, and now launches into his first outdoor concert at the Festival. A real discovery!
