	Flamenco Hoy ARTV, CKOI 96,9, Rouge 107,3 FM, The Gazette After seeing the film 'Flamenco, Flamenco' at the 2011 Jazz Festival - when I heard that Carlos Saura was bringing his staged presentation of Flamenco Hoy, I knew we had to go. My wife has a deep fondness for spanish gypsy music and dancing. I love that the Festival includes events like this in the program.

We did not know what we were seeing for quite some time and at first thought it was somehow reflections of car headlights from a highway. We lied back on the ground and just watched for an hour. The soundtrack I played during that time was Tangerine Dream's classic early 70s album 'Zeit'.

	The Devil's Music: The Life and Blues of Bessie Smith I have seen clips of this performance on youtube and it looks amazing. Miche Braden's interpretation of Bessie Smith in such an intimate location as the Cinquiemme Salle, I'm sure will be one of this year's highlights and it's a welcome addition to just straight music shows at the festival.

He reminds me of Jeff Buckley but also Antony & the Johnsons. It will be an ethereal show. Goto his website and watch/listen to the title track of his new album 'Adventures in your own backyard' - it sounds like Jeff Buckley singing a Radiohead version of a Burl Ives song - really out there!

I don't own any of her music and her style is not really my sort of thing - however, I still think that even if she doesn't have the voice she wants had, it will be a spectacular show.

However, he has covered several of my favourite soul classics on his last couple of albums and so I'm very excited to have front row tickets for this one.
