Montréal singer-songwriter Amanda Mabro grew up listening to a variety of music, from Madonna to heavy metal to Ella Fitzgerald. She later took on a strong interest for jazz and cabaret, self-releasing a first album, Superwoman in the Making, in 2006, followed by two pop-oriented EPs, The Red Rows (2008) and Wine Flows (2009). Her outdoor performance at the 2008 Festival International de jazz de Montréal is now almost legendary, selling 300 CDs in 30 minutes to a seduced crowd. In 2003, the ambitious young woman created the We Are Women Artists festival, an annual event promoting female artists of various backgrounds.
