Born in 1989, Béatrice Martin began piano lessons at the age of 3. She entered the conservatory at 9, studying for 5 years, and began writing her own songs in 2007, joining Bonjour Brumaire as a keyboardist and vocalist. She left the group in 2008 to concentrate on her own repertoire. Recruited by the Grosse Boîte label, she released a self-titled debut produced and arranged by David Brunet. The album was warmly received and awarded the 2009 Félix for Révélation de l'année (Discovery of the Year) and the Prix Victoire de la chanson originale 2010 (for Comme des enfants). In early 2011, the singer recorded an EP in English under the name Armistice with Jay Malinowski of Bedouin Soundclash. The solo album Blonde followed at year’s end. In 2014, the artist recorded two soundtracks: one for Trauma, consisting of covers, and one for Child of Light.
