Lake Street Dive

Origin: United States

Genre: Pop

Delivering a catchy, jazzy pop-rock souped up with R&B and retro sounds, Lake Street Dive was founded in 2004 at the New England Conservatory in Boston. Singer Rachael Price, drummer Mike Calabrese, double bassist Bridget Kearney and guitarist-trumpeter Mike “McDuck” Olson released their first recording, In This Episode, independently in 2007, followed by Promises, Promises in 2008, before signing to Signature Records for their self-titled album in 2011. The group landed on the world’s radar when a video of them covering I Want You Back by the Jackson 5 shot on a Boston Street went viral, racking up 4 million viewings on YouTube and earning them a vast audience. After the EP Fun Machine, released in 2012, the group spent almost 2 years crisscrossing America, performing over 300 shows. The album Bad Self Portraits arrived in 2014, followed in 2016 by Side Pony, on Nonesuch Records.
