The Chieftains

Origin: Ireland

Genre: Folk/Country

Internationally renowned traditional Irish group the Chieftains have been spreading the sound of the Emerald Isle since the early ’60s, but Paddy Moloney’s band only became a full-time pursuit in 1975, when their contribution to the soundtrack of Barry Lyndon brought them to a broader audience. Over the decades, they’ve collaborated with artists from all musical backgrounds, including Paul McCartney, Van Morrison, Mick Jagger and Ry Cooder. Still as active and relevant as ever, the Dublin group celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2012 with the album Voice of Ages.
