Mark Guiliana wears a number of hats: drummer, composer, teacher and producer. Praised to the skies by audiences and critics, this rhythm poet charms fans with his innovative talent, creativity and skill at smashing the boundaries between jazz and electronic music. He first hit the scene in 2004 with Heernt, an experimental jazz-garage trio that attracted attention with the album Locked in a Basement in 2006. He went on to forge a reputation as a prolific, sought-after collaborator, bringing his magic beat to recordings and concerts by Lionel Loueke, Brad Mehldau, Meshell Ndegeocello, Gretchen Parlato and Avishai Cohen. He has also established himself as the leader of Beat Music and founder of Beat Music Productions, which released My Life Starts Now and Beat Music: The Los Angeles Improvisations. In addition, he forged the duo Meliana with Brad Mehldau, whose first album, Tame the Dragon (2014), was a major hit.
