Adam Karch

Origin: Quebec, Canada

Main instrument: Acoustic guitar/electric guitar

Genre: Blues

Adam Karch grew up on a farm in L'Acadie, a small town in Quebec. He was surrounded by music and developed a fascination for the guitar early on. His father bought him a left-handed acoustic instrument and he began to pore over books of guitar transcriptions. By age 15 he was playing with bar bands, and at 18 he toured Germany, performing with Jeff Healey. Guitar virtuoso Walter Rossi took notice of Karch's energetic guitar stylings and flexible voice, and produced his debut album, Crossroad Diaries (2002), for Justin Time Records. Soon festivals across Quebec began booking his act. In 2011, he released Cottonfields, an album on which he explores the roots of the blues, and reveals a sound that draws from folk as much as from the blues. Three years later, he is back with Blueprints, a cover album of classic rock songs.
