1983 -

Origin: United States

Main instrument: Vocal

Genres: Pop, Vocal jazz

Born in Houston and now living in Brooklyn, Kat Edmonson boasts a sparkling repertoire that swings between retro pop and vocal jazz. Gifted with a singular voice that has earned her comparisons with Billie Holiday, she bounced onto the Austin scene before releasing a debut album in 2009, Take to the Sky, featuring jazz standards and pop hits, that landed in the Top 20 of the Billboard jazz chart. Next came Way Down Low, warmly received by critics, topping Billboard's Heatseekers chart and ranked as one of the best albums of the year by Downbeat and The Boston Globe. There followed tours with Chris Isaak, Gary Clark Jr. and Jamie Cullum, collaborations with fellow Texan Lyle Lovett and slots in the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal (2013). In 2014, she released her 3rd album, The Big Picture, another #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers.
