Based in Canada since 1998, Hungary native Robi Botos rapidly drew attention for his talents as an accompanist. A gifted and versatile instrumentalist, he has won awards, composed for film and opened for veteran jazzmen including Oscar Peterson, who took him under his wing. Released in 2011, Place to Place, Botos’ first album as a bandleader, was rave-reviewed by the critics. The following year, making his debut appearance at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, he took home the TD Grand Jazz Award thanks to a solid performance delivered with his trio.
