Son of reggae legend Bob Marley, Ziggy Marley started his musical education by taking drum and guitar lessons from his father. With brother Stephen and sisters Sharon and Cedella, he formed Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers. From the mid-1980s and on, the band's mix of reggae, blues, R&B, and hip-hop fared well in the charts and was met with critical success. The 1988 release Conscious Party won the Grammy for Best Reggae Recording. More albums and tours followed in the next decade. In 2003, Ziggy released Dragonfly, his first solo album. Family Life, an album of children's music, came out in 2009, followed by Wild and Free in 2011. A socially-conscious artist, Ziggy Marley also dedicates himself to several charities.
