Rich Aucoin
Origin: Nova Scotia, Canada
Genres: Electronica, Pop
"Electro-pop euphoria" is the term often used to describe a Rich Aucoin concert, with its confetti, multimedia, wild dance moves and enthusiastic crowd interaction. The Halifax musician's recordings are often equally elaborate. His debut EP, Personal Publication (2007), composed in sync with Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, was a solo production on which he played 20 instruments. He went to opposite extremes on his following release, Public Publication (2010), recording 500 musicians, including an elementary school choir, several string sections and 20 drummers, over a two-year period, and travelling from one end of Canada to do so. So far, he has released a four-track EP of that recording, with a full album to follow in 2011.
