Fitz and the Tantrums

Origin: United States

Genre: R&B/Soul/Funk

For years, Michael Fitzpatrick plied his trade in the L.A. music business, writing music and working in studios. His big break came when he bought a vintage church organ, found inspiration and wrote Breaking the Chains of Love - all in one day. Before long, he formed Fitz and the Tantrums, a suit-sporting sextet that delivers a neo-soul/indie blend powered by the saxophone, and released the EP Songs for a Break Up, Vol. 1 (2009). Then came a tour with Maroon 5, a gig at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and a 3 ½ star review in Rolling Stone for the band's full-length debut disc Pickin' Up the Pieces (2010), not to mention air-play on TV's Criminal Minds and Desperate Housewives. Worth noting: EP and LP were recorded in Fitz's living room.
