catl
Origin: Ontario, Canada
Genres: Blues, Rock
Catl started out as a two-man band: Catl (Jamie Fleming) on guitar and vocals and Johnny LaRue on drums, and has since morphed into a trio, with Sarah Kirkpatrick on vocals, organ and percussion. The band performs gritty, Delta-inspired contemporary blues, spiked with punk and alternative rock, at times reminiscent of The White Stripes and The Black Keys. They surprised more than a few people when they won the Toronto Blues Society's New Talent Search in 2009. That same year they put out their debut album ¿Adónde vas? A ningún lado, followed by With The Lord For Cowards You Will Find No Place (2010), recording several cuts in Detroit, with Jim Diamond, who also worked with The White Stripes. Both discs were released on vinyl.
