A native of Canberra, Kim Churchill grew up in the small coastal city of Merimbula.He began playing the guitar at four years old. After ten years of classical studies, he fell under the spell of rock. He expanded his horizons after discovering the music of Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and David Bowie, among others. With his high school diploma in his pocket, Churchill set out on a solo tour of Australia, driving a camper from coast to coast. As his reputation rose, he was invited to perform at a number of Australian festivals, as well as in North America and Japan. Hi first album, With Sword & Shield, was released in 2010, followed by an EP, Turns to Stone, and a self-titled album the year after.
