Jon Day began playing the piano at three years of age. Initially trained as a classical pianist, he later opted for jazz and pop. A native of Vancouver, in 1999 the singer-songwriter settled in Montréal and began studying Jazz Piano Performance at McGill University. In addition to performing at numerous festivals with various musical ensembles, including the McGill Jazz Orchestra, he is known for his work with the vocal chamber ensemble Effusion. In 2009, Day played on French artist Émilie Simon's The Big Machine. Starting in 2006, he began adding texts to his music. A first EP, Exhibit A, was followed by a complete album, Exhibit B (2008), produced by the artist and featuring songstress Ranee Lee on the duet Boy.
