Originally from Westminster, England, Eliza Doolittle was born into a theatrical family - her mother is an actress, her father, a director. Inspired by the contemporary R&B band Destiny's Child, she began writing songs at the age of 12. She released her first single, Piano Song, in 2008. Following that, the singer-songwriter signed with Parlophone Records. A hit on radio, her song Skinny Genes climbed the charts to number five. On her first album, which was self-titled and released in 2010, the artist concocted a blend of pop, ska and jazz.
