Mark Berube and the Patriotic Few
Origin: Manitoba, Canada
Genre: Folk/Country
Born in Manitoba, raised in Swaziland and now based in Montréal, pianist and accordionist Mark Berube performs with the group The Patriotic Few - Kristina Koropecki (cello), Amélie Mandeville (bass), and Patrick Dugas (drums). The singer-songwriter delivers a richly arranged folk music - minus guitar (!), combining personal and political themes. His first two albums, What the River Gave the Boat (2007) and What the Boat Gave the River (2008), earned him a Canada Music Awards nomination for Best Solo Roots Album, as well as the title of Artist to Watch at both the Paléo Festival Nyon and the Winnipeg Folk Festival. In 2010, Berube released the mini-album Tailored to Fit, a foretaste of his 2011 release June in Siberia.
