First spotted doing vocals for artists such as Patrick Watson, Plants and Animals, Socalled, Chilly Gonzales and Feist, Montrealer Katie Moore struck out on her own with her first album, Only Thing Worse (2007). A blend of folk, alternative country, bluegrass and Americana, this first work was nominated for both a GAMIQ Award and a MIMI (Montreal International Music Initiative), while her song Rush Enough was among the finalists for SOCAN's ECHO Songwriting Prize. For her second album, Montebello (2011), released on her own record label and financed by her fans via the Web, Moore broadened her horizons, exploring subjects involving a greater social consciousness.
